BESCHREIBUNG & EINTEILUNG

Our house is an old "Quinta", Portugese for wineyard-farm. In 2006 it was totally renovated. All the rooms are on the ground floor. The cellar has been kept in the authentic farmyard style. In the summer the thick walls will keep the heat outside, in the winter the central heating system and the floorheating provide the house with a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

The Quinta is situated upon 1 ½ hectares private ground with Mimosa, fruittrees and terraces all along the house. The view from our terraces upon the valley is most spectacular. Our outside kitchen can be used for barbecues as well as for grilling. In the summer it offers a lot of shadow. For children there is enough room to play without having to worry about the traffic, there is hardly any. The private swimming pool is equipped with a jetstream which allows you to excercise. The usage of the tenniscourt is free and it's only used by a few other people. It is allowed to bring pets, but they cannot stay in the sleeping rooms. Our hostess lives in a village nearby. She and her husband take care of the house, the garden and the swimming pool and will help you should a problem arise.

UMGEBUNG & AKTIVITÄTEN

The Quinta is located in the middle of Portugal, at the beginning of the Serra d'Estrela mountain range. This is an unspoilt area with a lot of scenery. You can walk around for hours without meeting anyone, unless you walk through a little village where you take a 'bica' in one of the cafes. The friendly people still live in the traditional Portugese way and will always take time to have a chat with you. If you are looking for a "Disneyland"kind of vacation than this is not for you. However, if you enjoy nature, the sound of silence, walking and tennis, than this is your chance to experience a little piece of paradise. All our guests have been delighted by the surroundings of this beautiful area.

Within an hour driving there is a golf course (Monte Bello). Porto, Coimbra and Viseu are beautiful cities with an ancient, historical centre which you can visit in one day. You can reach the sea (Aveiro) in about an hour. Half an hour drive there is the Rio Paiva, an excellent fishingspot and famous for its very clear water.
